Welcome to First Cleveland Cavalry Association

It is with great pride that we welcome you to The First Cleveland Cavalry website.

This fine organization, that celebrated its 135th Anniversary in October 2012, continues to move forward into the 21st century by providing friendship and funding to returning veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars through such organizations as The Wounded Warriors Fund while, still assisting those veterans who have served in past conflicts like World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Panama, and Kosovo. We also are a social organization that gathers together to provide our associates special time to reminisce and enjoy a few hours of comradery.

However, even though we are looking forward to the future,we must embrace our past. Our history is rich in the traditions of the US, Cavalry including such honors as having the great John Phillip Sousa compose the "Black Horse Troop March"which he dedicated to us .Also, The First Cleveland Cavalry was selected several times to escorte Presidents, Governors and other dignitaries, in both life and death, in the Nation's Capital and in other cities through out Ohio because of the quality of the troopers who served, and the beautiful black horses that they rode. Today, The First Cleveland Cavalry is associated with the linage of the 107th Cavalry and all its successor units, such as the 237th BSB. many of which have served numeriuos tours of duty in both Iraq and Afighanistan. It is with great anticapation that these units will continue to carry on the traditions of the  Association.
