First Cleveland Cavalry Association 2020 Social Events
The First Cleveland Cavalry Association is planning on holding both its annual Steak Roast on Saturday
24 October 2020 from 1700 hrs. to 2100 hrs., and annual Holiday Party on Friday 4 December 2020 from 1900 hrs. to 2200 hrs. The current pandemic has required that we make some changes in how we conduct both of these events.
The first item of note is that the State of Ohio and local government where our events are planned will ultimately determine whether or not they can be held. As things currently stand we should be able to conduct both events but pandemic circumstances could change that. Circumstances may also have State and/or local authorities requiring other protective measures be put in place. If that becomes the case we will notify all attendees of those circumstances.
The next is the board of directors concern for being able to provide a safe environment for the conduct of these events. The previous venue at the VFW in Aurora worked well under pre pandemic circumstances but cannot not provide for the kind of social distancing that will mitigate coronovirus transmission issues. The board decided to change the venue to the American Legion Post 496 in Kent, Ohio. They have a much larger hall with enough large tables so that tables can be distanced, and so that we can seat appropriate smaller numbers at each table. This location will be used for both the Steak Roast and the Holiday Party.
The next change involves notification of your intent to attend. In the past we have required confirmation of attendance to be received by the event chairman no later than seven days prior to the event. Due to uncertainty resulting from the pandemic we must receive your intention to attend no later than thirty days prior to the event as detailed below.
The Steak Roast, as in the past, will require reservations to be accompanied by your check(s) in the amount of $ 35.00, one check for yourself and one check for your guest if you are bringing one. Your check will be returned to you when you sign in, your check for your guest will be deposited for the cost of the meal. If you do not attend, your check will be deposited with the Association unless you cancel per terms below. The form in this announcement should be completed and mailed with your check(s), in enough time to be to be RECEIVED by me no later than 24 SEPTEMBER 2020.
Cancellation. You may cancel your reservation by notifying me before 24 September 2020. If you cancel, your check(s) will be shredded unless you indicate that you want them returned and you provide a self-addressed envelope for that purpose. In the event that the Association is forced to cancel, all checks will be shredded unless you request that your check be returned, and you provide a self-addressed envelope for that purpose.
The Holiday Party is a members-only event and again, will require reservations. No check deposit is required but it is important that we know how many will be attending. The form in this announcement should be completed and mailed in enough time to be to be RECEIVED by me no later than 4 NOVEMBER 2020. You may cancel your reservation by notifying me no later than 4 November 2020.
