Memorabilia Displays

Until the mid Nineties most of the memorabilia belonging to the First Cleveland Cavalry Association was held by the Western Reserve Historical Society in their basement in Cleveland Ohio.

The association has decided to now display memorabilia through out the state of Ohio. Sites include:
- Cleveland Skating Club, where a Museum type display is held in the Cavalry Room on the lower level of what was former Armory.
- The Stow Armory provides in its lobby, two show cases, one of which contains a display of WWII artifacts and a tribute to current troopers serving on active duty.
-The Patton Museum at Ft. Knox, Ky has the refurbished Cavalry Horse and Trooper rider, plus artifacts of Troop A from circa 1937 to 1941 on display.
- Rickenbacker ANG Base at the Regional Training Site has a display of Hussar Trooper circa 1877 and a display case with artifacts of World War I.

The photos below will give a small perspective of what is on display. If you would like to visit any of the sites please contact George A. Ehrman for directions and who to contact. As you might have already considered, due to current security standards, advance notice or some restrictions may apply.

The Patton Museum is dedicating the horse and rider to our veterans who served in WWII.

TO: The First Cleveland Cavalry Soldiers

At no time in the history of our organization has it been more important than now to energize our group. In the past, we have had numerous soldiers for WWII and the Korean War that actively participated. As the number of these veterans continues to dwindle, and the number of 107th units decline, the significance of this organization seems to fade away.

We can’t wait until our numbers are so small that our relevance is questioned. To remain a viable organization well into the future, I ask each one of you to recruit (1) one new member in this next year. I’m sure you all know at least someone from your old unit that would be interested in becoming an active member. Sometimes just a phone call will inspire a former member to show up at the Annual Steak Roast or Holiday Party.

I know of no other organization that cost so little and yet gives so much in return. It is critically important that we keep the legacy of the First Cleveland Cavalry alive for the generations to come.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation and support.

Sincerely,

Thomas P. Luczynski
President
